Christmas Market Tour

 

Day 1

Frankfurt
Arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel.

 

Day 2

Frankfurt-Heidelberg(90km/1hr)
Short guided bus tour of Frankfurt, where you can experience the essential things to do in Frankfurt. See all the historical and modern sights of the city in a comfortable and secure environment, with full commentary provided. After the tour you will be dropped off at the Frankfurt Christmas Market. In terms of the visitor numbers and size, the Frankfurt Christmas Market is one of the most important Christmas markets in Germany. The elaborate and creative stand decorations, the scenes surrounding the Römerberg and Paulsplatz and the huge Christmas tree also make it one of its most beautiful markets in Europe. Transfer to the hotel in Heidelberg for some rest and an overnight.

 

Day 3

Heidelberg
Transfer to Heidelberg. Start your short city tour of one of the most romantic cities in Europe. Explore the ruins at Heidelberg Castle and discover the city's Old Town, home to Renaissance period buildings, the Karl Theodor Bridge and Heidelberg University. After you finish with your tour, you will be dropped off at the Heidelberg Christmas Market which is spread over five squares : Kornmarkt, Marktplatz, Universitaetsplatz, Anatamiegarten and Bismarckplatz. Visit one of the newest additions to the market, "Christmas on ice"  which is   situated on Karlsplatz. Transfer to your hotel in Heidelberg for some rest and an overnight.

 

Day 4

Heidelberg - Stuttgart - Heidelberg (126km/1h30min)
Today continue to Stuttgart. Start your short city tour of Stuttgart which will cover all the main attractions, monuments, buildings etc. Another option is to visit the sensational Mercedes-Benz World as well as the magnificent Porche-Museum, this way you can discover the myth of those world-famous premium cars in Stuttgart's unique automobile museums. After you finish with your tour, you will be dropped off at the Stuttgart Christmas Market, which is set in the heart of town against the breathtaking backdrop of the Old Palace. With it's more than 280 delightfully decorated stalls, the Stuttgart Christmas Market is not only one of the oldest, but certainly also one of the largest and loveliest Christmas markets in the whole of Europe. Transfer to your hotel in Heidelberg for some rest and an overnight.

 

Day 5

Heidelberg - Augsburg (274km/3h)
Drive to Augsburg. Start your short sightseeing tour guided by a local expert, this tour includes a comprehensive walking tour around the town, passing sites of interest such as the Golden Hall and Augsburg Cathedral. The city is steeped in history, and you'll have chance to explore its beautiful churches, museums and treasures. Visit the Augsburg Christmas Market, which will be held in front of the Augsburg City Hall. More than 140 various stands will be there, waiting for you to explore them. Transfer to the hotel in Augsburg for some rest and an overnight.

 

Day 6

Augsburg - Munich (71km/1h)
Continue to Munich. Start your short city tour, which will give you a great overview of Munich. You'll cross Konigplatz and the renowned art galleries Lenbachhaus, Old and New Pinakothek. See the former artists' quarter Schwabing and travel along the impressive Ludwig and Prinzregenten streets, which are lined by magnificent buildings such as the Theatiner Church, Hall of Generals (Feldherrnhalle), House of Arts, Bavarian National Museum, and the Angel of Peace. After your Munich City Tour, visit the Allianz Arena, constructed for the 2006 Soccer World Cup. The opening match between Germany and Costa Rica, along with several group matches and a semi-final, all were hosted at this impressive stadium. The Allianz Arena, opened in 2005 and is home to both Munich clubs - Bayern and TSV 1860. It was designed purely as a football stadium and took less than three years to build. On your tour you will find out all you need to know about the stadium. With time to stop at the Fan Club Shop, you can stock up on all the current season FC Bayern items. After you finish with the tour, visit both of the Christmas markets in Munich - the Manger Market located in Neuhauser Strasse, only a few steps from Marienplatz square and Sternenplatzl at Rindermarkt. Transfer to the hotel in Munich for some rest and an overnight.

 

Day 7

Munich
Start your full day guided trip to the Royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof.  Hidden in the seclusion of the Bavarian mountains, King Ludwig II built two of his dream castles, Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. This trip from Munich shows you both of these extraordinary castles, the legacy of of Bavaria's fairytale King. Capture the grandeur of these castles and the picturesque mountain scenery of Bavaria in one magical day. Transfer back to Munich for some rest and an overnight.

 

Day 8

Munich- Salzburg (143 km/1 h 30 min)
Transfer to Salzburg. Have a half day guided tour of the city including Residence of Mozart on Makart Square, dating back to 1617 (Mozart lived in this house from 1773 to 1780. Today, this famous residence houses a museum on the first floor of Mozart’s former living quarters, documenting the history of the building and the life of the Mozart family), Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Old Town with the Cathedral, the Festival Hall, St Peter's Abbey Church and its graveyard and Mirabell Palace (outside). After the end of the tour, you will have free time to visit the Salzburg Christmas Markets- the Adventmarkt of St. Jakob am Thurn, near a pretty baroque church in Salzburg's old village square. You could explore the market stalls decorated with twinkling lights and Christmas trees, and shop for locally crafted ceramics, candles and dolls as well as enjoying a complimentary snack of roasted chestnuts (Orgelwaffel) and mulled wine (Glühwein) before moving on to the markets at St. Leonhard, where the stall-holders trade unique handicrafts from Bavaria and the South Tyrol. The final stop is Hellbrunn in southern Salzburg, where the magical Hellbrunn Palace provides a romantic backdrop against the merry bustle of the Christmas markets. Visit the nativity scene or take a stroll through the famous palace park, where you may be lucky enough to see deer roaming freely. Have an overnight in the hotel.

 

Day 9

Salzburg 
Transfer to the airport.
