Venice - San Marino - Florence - Pisa- Rome- Pompeii- Amfali coast

 

Day 1

VENICE
Arrival in Venice. Transfer to hotel.

 

Day 2

VENICE
Your tour in Venice begins with a two-hour walking tour highlighting all the important monuments, from San Marco Square to the Rialto Bridge. You'll learn the history behind the famous landmarks, including the basilica's Byzantine heritage and the adjoining prisons of the Doge's Palace. Highlights also include  Campo Santa Maria Formosa and Marco Polo's House. Along the way you will learn the history of the stunning palaces and churches that line the famous canal, as well as anecdotes about the famous people who have resided on Venice's most important 'street'.

 

Day 3

VENICE – BOLOGNA(160km/2h) - SAN MARINO (77km/1h20min) – FLORENCE (160km/2h20min)
Drive to Bologna and have a short tour around the city with the oldest European university. Then to the republic of San Marino with a visit of this mini-state on top of a mountain.  San Marino is the oldest surviving sovereign state and constitutional republic in the world, as the continuation of the monastic community. Continue to Florence.  Sightsee the landmarks of the city by bus (The Roman amphitheatre, the Cathedral, the Civic museum, to name just a few and of course the splendid paths and trails which lend themselves so well for trekking or strolling).

 

Day 4

FLORENCE
Your morning tour starts with a drive up to Piazzale Michelangelo to admire wonderful panoramic views of Florence. Next, you'll take a walking tour of the of the cathedral (exterior) in the old city centre, including Giotto's bell tower, the Baptistery with its bronze doors and the famous cupola by Brunelleschi. A short walk brings you to the Accademia Gallery which houses the statue of David by Michelangelo. Your tour continues with panoramic views of Florence, Fiesole and the Arno Valley. Next, you'll visit the old city centre to see the Franciscan Church of Santa Croce (exterior). A short walk through the heart of Florence brings you to the famous Piazza Signoria, where you can see the imposing Palazzo Vecchio (exterior) and the beautiful Loggia del Lanzi. Next you'll visit the Uffizi Gallery to admire superb paintings by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Giotto. 

 

Day 5

FLORENCE – LUCCA (80km/1h15min) – PISA(25km/40min) – FLORENCE (100km/1h30min)
Excursion to Lucca and Pisa. In Lucca, we will admire this extremely beautiful medieval town and in Pisa, you'll drive along the embankment lining the River Arno into Pisa. Your visit begins with a guided visit of Piazza dei Miracoli, home to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. This masterpiece of Romanesque art is surrounded by the equally beautiful baptistery and cathedral. Return to Florence and overnight.

 

Day 6

FLORENCE - SAN GIMIGNANO (60km/1h) – SIENNA(45km/1h) – ROME (243km/2h50min)
Drive to San Gimignano, the town of towers. Then to Sienna,  considered by many to be the most beautiful town in Tuscany. You will drive through the gorgeous countryside of Tuscany and in about one hour you’ll arrive atto the traditional rival of Florence... Siena. This gothic city is the best example of  Medieval times, the architecture, the roads, the churches, everything reminds you of the 13th and 14th century.Afternoon departure to Rome.

 

Day 7

ROME
Take a walk through Rome's 2,000 year history with an expert guide who'll bring the past alive. Your tour starts with a visit to St. Peter's Square and Basilica, the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel Walking tour: Colosseum, Forum Romanum, Trevi Fountain, Navona Square, the Roman Pantheon, the Spanish Steps.  As you discover the secrets scattered throughout Rome you'll visit some of Rome's most beautiful sites to breathe the air of intrigue, mystery and revelation.

 

Day 8

ROME – POMPEII (245km/2h20min) - AMALFI COAST (46km/30min)
Morning departure towards Pompeii below the famous Mount Vesuvius. In Pompeii you'll see the Forum, the Thermal Baths, Vetti's House and the "Lupanare" brothel, all buried by volcanic ashes during the eruption. Then drive along the Amalfi Coast and overnight.

 

Day 9

AMALFI COAST - CAPRI ISLAND (55km/1h) – ROME (283km/3h)
Excursion to the Capri island,known as the 'Pearl of the Mediterranean', where you have the option to take a boat ride to the beautiful Blue Grotto and take in stunning views from Anacapri. In the afternoon return to the shore and back to Rome .
